I do not recall hearing a viola, played by Dov Scheindlin, that was so prominent yet at the same time still totally supportive of the group's needs. Scheindlin entered into numerous dialogues with the others, determined to be an equal partner and by doing so still managed to democratically bring out the alto line.

Meet Dov Scheindlin

Dov Scheindlin is a classical musician based in New York City.  While his career has been spent primarily as a performer, he is also sought after as a teacher, arranger, and occasional public speaker.  Dov is a member and former Artistic Director of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Additionally, he has played thousands of performances in the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.  For five years he served as violist of the Arditti String Quartet, with whom he made dozens of recordings.  Dov has found numerous ways to share his passion for music.

Teaching

Dov Scheindlin has taught at Harvard, NYU, Princeton and various summer festivals.  He draws on decades of playing and teaching experience and can tailor his teaching to your needs and goals.  Dov is available to teach in person (socially distanced) in his studio in Manhattan.

Performance

Performances can be streamed, or live within NYC for audiences of up to 8 people in ample surroundings.

  • HBO (Home Bach’s office) — a complete performance of any of Bach’s cello suites from 1-4.  

  • Full recital — Bach, contemporary viola piece, and Mozart duo with a secret collaborator.

Arranging/Composing
